The Southville Gazette
As part of our student enrichment, we also run the Southville Gazette. This is a newsletter that contains short articles written by our pupils throughout the school after trips and major events.

On behalf of our governors, staff, and wonderful children, I extend a very warm welcome and thank you for taking the time to visit the Southville Primary School website!
It is a true honour and a privilege to serve as your Headteacher. My connection to this school community runs deep: my journey here began in 2005 as a Newly Qualified Teacher at the former Junior School. I then served as Interim Headteacher in 2017 before the amalgamation. Since the creation of Southville Primary School, I’ve been proud to serve as Deputy Headteacher, and this year, I was successfully appointed as Headteacher following the retirement of our much-loved, long-standing Headteacher, Joanne Lacey, who led Southville for an incredible 33 years.
Our Identity and Ethos
Southville is a popular and vibrant primary school located in Feltham, within the London Borough of Hounslow. We officially opened in September 2018 following the successful amalgamation of Southville Infant and Nursery School and Southville Junior School. We are a large, thriving school with up to 720 pupils on roll, catering for children aged 3 to 11.
What makes Southville so special is the atmosphere we’ve created: it’s a place that perfectly combines a hardworking, determined, and aspirational ethos with a happy, friendly, and fun environment. We are a genuinely caring community where every single child is valued, supported, and encouraged to thrive. Our fundamental aim is to nurture children into confident, curious, and resilient learners who possess a lifelong love of learning.
Values and Philosophy: Learning for Life
Our school values aren’t just words on a wall—they are at the heart of everything we do. Our daily actions are guided by three simple, clear rules: Be Respectful, Be Ready, and Be Safe. These are built upon our six core values that provide a foundation for life: Respect, Resilience, Responsibility, Integrity, Happiness, and Compassion.
We are committed to supporting every child’s complete well-being. As a trauma-informed school, we prioritise emotional security and self-regulation, ensuring children feel secure, settled, and completely ready to engage with their learning.
A ‘can-do’ attitude, rooted in the principles of Growth Mindset, is central to our educational philosophy. We promote independent thinking and encourage students to see mistakes as valuable learning opportunities, not failures. We have a team of talented, hardworking, and dedicated staff committed to providing the very best for all children in a purposeful environment built on mutual respect. Our pupils develop essential skills for lifelong success, in line with our motto: ‘Learning today for the world of tomorrow.’
Our Curriculum and Community
We pride ourselves on the warmth and friendliness of our school; new families are quickly welcomed and integrated into our community. We are passionate about ensuring every child leaves Southville as a well-rounded global citizen, ready for the challenges and opportunities of the future.
Our creative and inclusive curriculum is designed to offer a wide range of exciting, hands-on experiences. We ensure that every child’s individual needs are met by providing the right balance of support and challenge to develop true independence. Critically, every learning opportunity is purposeful and connected to the children’s own lives, helping them become effective communicators, problem-solvers, and critical thinkers. This is enriched with amazing out-of-school trips and visits throughout the year.
Connecting with Us
I am immensely delighted and proud to be the Headteacher of such a fun, diverse, and vibrant school where pupils, staff, governors, and parents work together with high expectations of one another. We are committed to the highest standards of teaching and learning—achieved through a positive combination of challenge, support, encouragement, and praise—to ensure that all pupils truly fulfil their potential.
This website serves many purposes: it is a resource for our current families and children, a window into our life for the local community, and a source of information for prospective parents and friends abroad. We hope that whatever your reason for visiting, you get a full flavour of what our school is all about.
If, after exploring our website, you would like to know more, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We value open communication and warmly welcome parental involvement in school life. Together, we can give every child the very best start.
With Warmest Wishes
